The East Oregonian April 1, 1970 Death claims long-time Boardman farmer BOARDMAN- Arnin A. Hug, 65, long-time Boardman farmer, died of a heart attack Saturday morning while he was trying to free his four-wheel drive vehicle from snow. He and Mrs. Hug had spent Friday night at their cabin near Meacham and were trying to get when the attack took place. Mrs. Hug walked out to the main highway and got a ride with a passing motorist into Meacham. Mr. Hug was born July 11, 1904 at Summerville. He married Erin Bickford at La Grande in 1927, and the couple lived in Union County and in Forks, Wash. before moving to Boardman in 1933. Survivors besides the widow, are a son, Delmer of Boardman; two daughters, Mrs. Don (Wilma) Wirt, Mt. Shasta, Calif., and Mrs. Keith (Wanda) Ferguson, Hermiston; a brother, Edwin Hug, Meacham; two sisters, Mrs. Jack O’Connell, Lake Oswego, and Mrs. Frank Veltman, Portland; 10 grandchildren. A son, Dale, preceded him in death. Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Boardman Community Church, with the Rev. Richard Struckmeier of The Dalles officiating. Shasta, Calif.; brother Edwin Hug, Meacham; sisters, Mrs. Iva Beltman, Portland and Mrs. Mabel O’Connell, Lake Oswego Ore. Funeral service will be Wednesday April 1, 1970 in the Boardman Community Church, 2 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Struckmeier officiating. Burial to follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Boardman.
