The East Oregonian December 15, 1987 Karl F. Kaiser PENDLETON- Karl Fritz Kaiser, 78, of Pendleton, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 1987, at Amber Valley Care Center. The Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bishop Funeral Chapel in Pendleton, with vault interment at Olney Cemetery. Kaiser was born Aug. 26, 1909, in Germany. When he was 21 he came to the United States and to Pendleton. His uncle, John Hanke, owner of the Hanke Bakery in Pendleton for many years, was his sponsor. Kaiser became An American Citizen five years after arriving in the country. He worked with his uncle in his bakery and also worked for Safeway as a baker until his retirement at age 63. He served in the Navy during World War II as a baker on the islands of the Pacific Ocean. In 1949, he married June Spinning. She died in 1983. Kaiser was a lifetime member of the Pendleton Elks Lodge No. 288 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Pilot Rock. Survivors include a stepson, Gale Spinning of Pilot Rock; two granddaughters, Holly Miller of Portland and Donna Hanson of Indianapolis; three step-grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
