In the Medford Mail 
Tribune, Monday, 14 Feb 1927, p. 2, col. 6, under the heading "Passing of 
the Early Pioneer," there is the following:

Pendleton, Ore., Feb. 14--(AP)--L. S. (Kap) Kidd, 80, pioneer of Umatilla 
county, since 1879, died at his home here Sunday. He was born in Kentucky in 
1847 and in 1875 crossed the plains to Vancouver, Wash., later coming here 
to reside.
