Martin, 82, died at Good Shepard Hospital Saturday. Mr. Martin was born in Missouri August 31, 1894. Mr. Martin had been a resident of Hermiston the past 27 years, and formerly had lived in LaGrande. He was a long time employe of the Union Pacific Railroad, having started work for the railroad in 1922. He was a fireman, brakeman and conductor during his employment with the Union Pacific. He was a veteran of World War I, U.S. Navy, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post at LaGrande. Surviving are two sons, Patrick and Howard, both of Hermiston, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, one nephew, Clarence Rudell, also of Hermiston. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Paul McArthur of the Umatilla Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Hermiston Cemetery.
