The East Oregonian December 15, 1987 Ray A. Rood HERMISTON- Ray Andrews Rood, 60, of Hermiston, died Saturday, Dec. 12 1987, at Good Shepherd Community Hospital in Hermiston. The funeral will be 2 p.m., Tuesday in the chapel of Burns Mortuary in Hermiston with military graveside services to follow at the Hermiston Cemetery. He was born Jan. 14, 1927, at Heppner, son of Walter and Cora Coleman Rood. He attended schools at Heppner, Hermiston, and Ritter. On Aug. 28, 1948, he married Betty Lee Morris in Pendleton. He served in the Army during World War II. After the war, Rood worked at the Umatilla Army Depot for 30 Years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and helping his many friends. Survivors include his wife, at the home; daughters, Roseann Virgen and Andrea Rhea Rood, both of Hermiston; sons, Edward J. of Hermiston and Warren Travis of Spokane; sisters, Betty Mikesell of Oakridge, Margaret Charlene Collins of Reno, Nev., Marjorie Cummings of Portland; brothers, Orville of Yakima, Gerald of Hermiston and Louis of Portland, and eight grandchildren.
