The Athena Press February 12, 1932 Death of Mrs. Whitely Well Known At Athena Mrs. F.M. Whitely of Adams, mention of whose illness was recently made in The Press, died in a Walla Walla hospital Thursday of last week. Death followed an operation for relief from appendicitis. Funeral services were held Sunday in the Baptist church at Adams, Rev. Northrop of Athena, officiating. Interrment took place at Athena cemetery. Mrs. Whitely was 62 years of age, having been born in Missouri in 1869. She is survived by her husband, five children, 14 grandchildren, two brothers, and four sisters. Children are Mrs. Loulla Potter of Adams; Rufus Carpenter of Astoria; Edwin Carpenter of Pomeroy; Mrs. Lenora Sorenson of Dayton, Washington, and Theodore Carpenter of Walla Walla. A son Samuel Carpenter, died in 1903. Mrs Whitely’s sister, Mrs. J.E. Owens and a brother A.M. Moyer, both of Seattle arrived for the funeral.
