Morning Oregonian April 26, 1893
Roseburg,Or, Apr.25- A report was brought to town late this evening that 
Roscoe Smith and Cal Simmons got into an altercation over a cow this 
afternoon, about 11 miles south of here. Smith was shot by Simmons with a 
shotgun, receiving 50 shot in the hip.
