Multi-Car Accident

Five people went to the hospital, one of them an Oregon State Trooper, after a 
Multi-car accident at Milepost 82 on I-84 just after 11:10 p.m. Monday. OSP 
Trooper Corey Simon had made a traffic stop of a vehicle operated by Juan 
Bernado Garcia Solas, 18, of Vancouver [Washington], and had gone back to his
Patrol vehicle. He was preparing to clear the scene when a van operated by
Paul Kevin Muldrew, 42, Hillsboro [Oregon], collided with a semi and two
Trailers operated by Kerry Paul Daniels, 57, 357 Pipeline Road, Goldendale 
[Washington]. That impact pushed Muldrew’s vehicle onto the north shoulder 
where it hit the OSP car, which was in turn pushed into Solas’ car. Simon was
in his patrol vehicle when it was hit. Two ambulances responded to the scene. 
Simon was taken to the hospital and treated and released. Muldrew and three
Passengers, Stacy Rucker, 29; David Flores, 19; and Shentelle Rucker, 15, all
Of the same address in Hillsboro were also taken to the hospital. No one in 
Solas’ car was transported. The patrol car and the van were both demolished. 
A city of The Dalles police officer had responded as backup to the original
Traffic stop and heard the sound of the semi’s brakes and then the crash. 
Muldrew was cited for driving while suspended. Wasco County deputies and state
Police are doing the accident investigation.
