The Dalles Weekly Reminder, March 27, 1987
     Joye Steve Benwell, 71, died March 22 in The Dalles.  He was a resident 
of The Dalles for 30 years.
     Mr. Benwell was born in Liberal, Kansas, Oct. 13, 1915.  He worked as a 
janitor at Chenowith Middle School until his retirement.
     He is survived by two sons, Stll Benwell and Rocky Benwell, both of The 
Dalles; two daughters, Sharlen Juarez of Amarillo, Tex., and Deborah Dofault 
of Eugene; seven grandchildren.
     Memorial services were held at Rowena Baptist Church officiated by Pastor 
George Clark.  Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of 
arrangements.
