She was born April 21, 1927, in Parkrose, to "R.B." Ben and Katerine Churchill. She graduated valedictorian of her class from Parkrose High School in 1945 and then attended St. Vincent's Nursing School where she graduated in 1948. She married Cliff Bissonette on June 18, 1950 in the chapel at the University of Portland. The couple moved to Albany, where she worked for a local physician. The family moved to Boise in 1954 and to The Dalles in 1961. Later they moved to Milwaukie, where Cliff passed away. She moved back to The Dalles in 1996. During her career in nursing, she worked at Valley Vista Nursing Home (now Evergreen), Columbia Basin Nursing Home, Mid Columbia Hospital and Flagstone. She was an active volunteer with the Discovery Center, Red Cross and enjoyed traveling and roses. She is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Thresa Meeuwsen; son, Robert Bissonette; son-in-law, Michael Meeuwsen; step-daughter, Ann Scherzinger and her husband, Jeff Click; grandchildren, Christine Meeuwsen, William Meeuwsen, Austin Bissonette and Justin Bissonette; niece, Julie Goetz and numerous cousins in the Willamette Valley and friends. Rosary service will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Todd Unger as celebrant. Interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home are in care of arrangements.
