The Dalles Chronicle, October 28, 2004
    Funeral services for Lylas Blair, 75, a longtime resident of Elk, Wash., 
were held Oct. 9, 2004 in Spokane.
     She died on Oct. 4, 2004 at a hospital in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho.
     She was born in The Dalles and had lived in Elk for many years.
     She grew up on a family farm in The Dalles, attended high school there, 
was a drum majorette for the Booster Girls Club and participated in athletics. 
She also worked in the movie theater and did some modeling locally.
     After graduating from The Dalles High School in 1948 she attended Yakima 
Valley College. There she met Dale Blair and the couple married in 1950 in The 
Dalles.
     They moved to Pullman where they attended Washington State University and 
later moved to Spokane and in 1968 moved to a farm near Elk.
She was involved in the community and was a 4-H leader. She was a homemaker 
and enjoyed sewing, gardening and making bread. As an artist she did oil 
painting, leather tooling, pottery and crafts.
     She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and 
played the piano and sang in the church choir.
     Following a disabling stroke and her husband’s death, she moved to a care 
facility in Coeur d’ Alene.
     Survivors include five children, Duane Blair, Elk; Janna Blair, Cheney, 
Wash.; Karel Kent, Coeur d’ Alene; Kim Dilley, Pasco, Wash.; and Gail Ferrell, 
Colbert, Wash.; two brothers, Jack and Richard Robertson, both of The Dalles; 
and numerous grandchildren.
     Memorials may be made to LDS Church Humanitarian Services, COB, 50 E. 
North Temple, Salt Lake, City UT 84150.
