Wakley iwakley@msn.com and August 3, 2006, 12:28 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 28, 2006 William “Skinny” Lynn Bolton, 87, a resident of Dufur, died in The Dalles at the local hospital Tuesday, May 9, 2006. He was born April 26, 1919, in Boyd, the youngest of three children to Absolom Grant and Cora Ell (Walton Terry) Bolton. He grew up in Boyd and The Dalles and graduated from The Dalles High School in 1938. He served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1945, and then returned to Boyd to farm. The farm is a Century Farm and William and Wilma Bolton were named Conservationist of the Year. He was a member of The Dalles First Christian Church and American Legion. He was a mechanic and enjoyed singing, farming, cutting wood, picking huckleberries, fishing, and hunting and loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Marjorie (Gardner) Bolton, whom he married Feb. 1, 1944, in Dufur; his children and their spouses, Patty and Neil Wiidanen, Centerville, Wash.; Suesan and Jalan Van Nice, Palmer, Alaska; and Dan and Mercedes Bolton, Dufur; grandchildren, Ladd and Matt Wiidanen, Dan Van Nice, Rich Cowan, Jamie Van Nice-Albright, Kati, Alex and Eric Van Nice, Colter Bolton; 15 great-grandchildren; his sister, Cora Bethel Cimmiyotti, Scappoose; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Scott Wiidanen and Jennifer Bolton, his brother, Grant Bolton and half brother, Claude Terry. Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, May 11, from 2 to 7 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. to noon on Friday. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 12, at The Dalles Threemile Road IOOF Cemetery with Asa Jenson officiating.
