He was born March 25, 1941 in Eugene, the oldest of two children of Charles Edward and Helen Elizabeth (Wilson) Bothwell. He was raised in Kent and graduated from Sherman County Union High School in 1959 and then attended community college in Portland for a year. He worked at an auto supply store in Portland before returning to Kent in 1961 to farm on his step-father's ranch. In the mid-1960s, he worked for the Sherman County Grain Growers until 1967 when he bought a ranch in the Kent area. He sold the ranch in 1987 and started his own fence-building business which he operated until he became disabled. He married Ann Louise Burk on June 26, 1968 in Kent and later divorced. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, raising quarter horses and catching wild horses. He is survived by five daughters, Leatitia Ann and her husband, Gordon Wanous, Prescott, Wash.; Elizabeth Louise and her husband, Todd Mills, Goldendale; Anita Louise Bothwell, Redmond, Ore.; Belle Annette and her husband, Marshall Wentz, Redmond; Esther Ann and her husband, Chris Ivey, Farmington, N.M.; seven grandchildren, Kella, Logan, Joanna, Taylor, Isabella, Marie and Rilea; his sister, Betty May Nylen, Oregon City; his father, Charles Edward Bothwell Sr., Grants Pass; two half brothers, John Luther Davis, Oregon City and Jack Douglas Bothwell, Ridgefield, Wash. Memorial services will be held at the Kent Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004 with Rev. Richard Keeney officiating. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Winquatt Crematory with inurnment of cremains to be held in the Kent Community Cemetery. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home are in care of arrangements.
