The Dalles Weekly Reminder, July 3, 1987
Shannon Bottom, 70, died June 24 at his home in The Dalles.  He came to The 
Dalles in 1968, then moved away and returned last year.

Mr. Bottom was born in Mountain View, Okla.  He served in the U.S. Army in 
WWII and worked for the Corps of Engineers as a construction inspector for 30 
years before retiring in 1982.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela 
in 1967.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Ruth of The Dalles, who he married in 1939; 
sons, Tony of Vale and Don of Carson; two daughters, Carolyn Knotts of 
Honolulu and Sharon Bailey of The Dalles; 13 grandchildren; two great-
grandchildren; three brothers; four sisters.

Funeral was held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home officiated by the 
Rev. Ron Keyser, followed by burial at The Dalles IOOF Cemetery.  Memorials 
are suggested to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
