Surnames: Bourland, Byrnes, Finkel Floyd Judd Bourland, 84, a former resident of The Dalles, died on May 3, 2003 in Vancouver (Washington). He was born in Dufur (Oregon) on July 25, 1918. He had lived in Vancouver for 41 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific. He earned the Bronze Star. He worked as a welder for Pacific Inland Navigation in The Dalles and later for Crowley Navigation in Vancouver. He was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters and 41st Division Eastern Oregon Chapter. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, traveling, camping, wood and metal working and tinkering. Survivors include his wife, Linda Bourland, whom he married in 1972 in Vancouver; a daughter, Judie Byrnes, Vancouver; two sons, Rod Bourland, Vancouver and Floyd (Bob) Bourland, Kelso, Washington; a sister, Shella Finkel, Portland; four brothers, Harold Bourland, The Dalles; Darrel Bourland, Vancouver; Roger Bourland, Eugene (Oregon); and Carroll Bourland, Albany (Oregon); five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eloza. Visitation will be Friday, May 9, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel in Vancouver. Funeral services will be on Saturday, May 10, at 3 p.m. at Parklawn Cemetery in The Dalles. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 371, Vancouver, Washington 98666.
