     Sharon LaVonne Bower, 68, a resident of The Dalles, died at a Portland 
hospital on Monday, Nov. 22, 2004.
     She was born Dec. 31, 1935, in Ontario, the oldest of four children to 
Joseph William and Mary Louise (Walkup) MacDougall. She attended St. Mary’s 
Academy in The Dalles and graduated from high school in Maupin in 1955. 
     After high school, she attended nursing school in La Grande, and then 
worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Portland. She married Frederick “Bud” 
Bower on Jan. 12, 1957 in Camas, Wash. They lived in Portland and moved to The 
Dalles where she worked at The Dalles Hospital in the insurance billing 
department. She then worked in Eugene for a few years and returned to The 
Dalles, working for the Mid-Columbia Council of Governments for the past 12 
years.
     She was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational and former 
president of Business & Professional Women. She enjoyed her family, gardening, 
reading, writing, poetry, shopping, horses and traveling.
     She is survived by her husband Bud Bower, The Dalles; step-daughter, 
Linda Bower, Vancouver, Wash.; half sisters, Sandy and her husband, David 
Reppe, Touchet, Wash.; Teresa Bibby, Grass Valley; her brother, Ronald and his 
wife, Barbara MacDougall, Helena, Mont.; step-daughter-in-law, Holly Bower, 
Vancouver, Wash.; nephews, Scott MacDougall, Doug and Darin Reppe and Joseph 
Bibby; nieces, Ronda McDonald, Kim and Sarah Bibby; and numerous 
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph MacDougall in 
1966; her mother, Mary Reeder in 1981; her step-son, Skip Bower; her step-
father, John Reeder in 1999.
     Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26 and on Saturday, Nov. 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. 
and Monday, Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. through services.
     Funeral services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 with Rev. Karl Vercouteren 
officiating.      Interment will follow at Threemile Road Odd Fellows 
Cemetery. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements. 
     Memorial contributions may be made to United Church of Christ 
Congregation, c/o Memorial Fund, 111 East 5th Street, The Dalles, OR 97058 or 
American Cancer Society, 2120 First Ave. North, Seattle, WA 98109.
