     Verna Lee Brewer, 77, a resident of The Dalles, died at a local care 
facility Monday, Aug. 29, 2005.
     She was born in Polson, Mont., Sept. 4, 1927, the second of four children 
to Leland Amos and Lucy Ellen (Buchanan) Sturm. She grew up in Montana and 
California.
     She married Gearald Martin Brewer on Feb. 14, 1947. They moved to The 
Dalles in 1949. She worked as a teacher’s assistant in the Special Education 
department for School District 12 and then ESD.
     She was a member of the Eagles Lodge. She collected penguins, enjoyed 
embroidery, crochet, puzzles and loved to go to the beach with her beach 
buddies.
     She is survived by her son, Jerry Brewer and his wife, Susan The Dalles; 
her two daughters, Sharon Day and her husband, Jim, The Dalles; and Debra 
Spencer, The Dalles; her four grandchildren, Jennifer Brewer, North 
Bonneville, Wash.; John Day, Salem; Annette Moeller and her husband, Mark, 
Wallowa; and Maria Schildan, Goldsboro, N.C.; her great granddaughter, Ella 
Moeller, Wallowa; her sister, Jean Namie, The Dalles; and her brother, Bob 
Sturm and his wife, Elly, Vallejo, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
     Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, at IOOF 
Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road with Dick LaFever officiating. Spencer, Libby 
and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 2120 
First Ave N. Seattle WA. 97202
