He was born Feb. 2, 1925 in Colville, Wash. to Nile and Helen Brockway. He graduated from Crook County High School in Prineville in 1942. He served in the Navy Seebee’s in the Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1946. He joined the Oregon State Police in 1946 and retired as a captain in 1981. He served in The Dalles from 1946 to 1957, in Bend from 1964 to 1974 and in Milwaukie from 1974 to 1981. He married Lorraine Bohlen in 1981. He is survived by his wife, Oregon City; a son, Brad Brockway, Bonanza; daughter, Debbie Fahey, Bend; brother, Fred Brockway, Mt. Vernon; sister, Alice Bellach, Fresno, Calif.; one stepdaughter, five stepsons, 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Jeff Brockway, in 1987. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, gardening and family gatherings with his grandchildren. At his request, no service is planned. A celebration of his life will be held later this spring.
