Wakley iwakley@msn.com and August 3, 2006, 12:52 am The Dalles Chronicle, April 28, 2006 Betty K. Broer, 87, a former resident of The Dalles, died in Vancouver on May 9, 2006. She was born in Walla Walla on Aug. 14, 1918 to Dan and Frances (Nickell) Kinchloe. She moved to The Dalles in 1937 and spent many years working and volunteering in the community. She retired from the U.S. Bank after 40 years. Her volunteer activities included the Mid-Columbia Medical Center, the Civic Auditorium restoration and the Original Wasco County Courthouse as well as the Soroptimist Club, the Red Cross and Girl Scouts. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Grant; sisters, Thelma Adkisson and Phyllis Barbour; brother, Jack Kinchloe; grandsons, Roger Robison and Randy Robison; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Roger, who died in 1993 after more than 50 years of marriage, and a brother, Dan Kinchloe. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at Calvary Baptist Church in The Dalles. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the kitchen equipment fund at Calvary Baptist Church.
