Wakley iwakley@msn.com May 20, 2006, 1:12 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 24, 1983 Graveside services for Earl F. Brott, 90, a former resident of The Dalles, were Nov. 15 in Clarkston, Wash. Mr. Brott was born March 28, 1893 in Omaha, Neb. He grew up in Nebraska and later moved to Minnesota. He farmed and logged there, and later moved to Buffalo Wyo., where he also worked as a logger. Mr. Brott served in the U.S. Navy from 1917 to 1919 and was a chief cook and made 32 trips across the Atlantic on the transport USS Zealandia. Mr. Brott lived with his daughter, Betty Churchill in The Dalles for 10 years before moving to Clarkston nine months ago. Other survivors include two sons, George Brott, Asotin, Wash., and Dale Brott, Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Brott's wife, Florence, whom he married in Minnesota, died in 1933. Another son, Everett, died in 1962. The VFW post in Lewiston, Idaho conducted services.
