Brown, former resident of The Dalles died at her home in Tacoma, Wash. April 30. She was 98. She was born Oct. 29, 1890 in Broadwell, Ohio. She was orphaned at an early age and attended school at the soldiers and sailors home in Xenia, Ohio. She later went to Nebraska by covered wagon. She attended Bera College in Kentucky and worked as a stenographer in New England and Nebraska. After WWI she moved to Oregon where she married Bert B. Brown who was an auto mechanic in The Dalles. In 1941 the family moved to Bremerton, Wash. where Mr. Brown went to work as a machinist in the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. She has lived in Tacoma since 1960 with her son, Dr. Bert E. Brown who is a member of the physics faculty at University of Puget Sound. She is survived by sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews in Oregon, California and Nebraska. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7 at the Lynn Funeral Home in Tacoma. The Rev. Dr. Jon Gorman officiating.
