The Dalles Chronicle, November 14, 2003
    Dale V. Brown, 80, a lifelong resident of The Dalles, died at his home on 
Monday, Nov. 10, 2003.
     He was born Jan. 15, 1923 in Dufur, the second of three children to 
Charles A. and Agnes Christina (Walters) Brown. 
     He was raised in The Dalles and graduated from The Dalles High School in 
1941. 
     During WWII he served in the U.S. Navy in the Philippines and New 
Hebrides Islands.
     He returned to The Dalles and married June A. Anderson on Sept. 6, 1947 
in Goldendale. 
     He worked at Columbia Basin Nursing Home for 24 years, retiring as 
maintenance supervisor in 1985. 
     He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing in Alaska, his farm animals, gardening 
and his guitar music. He was a member of the Broadcast Music Association. 
     He was well known for his musical entertainment at the local clubs and 
other functions.
     He is survived by his wife of 56 years, June Brown, The Dalles; children, 
Dan and his wife, Linda Brown; James C. Brown; Edward and his wife, Linda 
Brown, all of The Dalles; Dalene and her husband, Harold McBain, Mosier and 
Carolyn and her husband, Craig Will, Hood River; grandchildren, Kristen, 
Jennifer, Geoff, Dylan, Dalyn and Danyl Brown, Ashly and Spencer Will; great-
grandchildren, Parker and Samantha Lepinski and Charlotte Julian; his cousin, 
Bert Brown, Tacoma, Wash; and his cat, Kit-Kat and his dog, Missy. 
     He was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte and hisbrother, Melvin.
Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on 
Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003 from 4 to 7 p.m.. and private cremation will follow at 
The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory. 
     Private family committal services with U.S. Navy rites will be held at 
The Dalles Odd Fellow's Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road.
     A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the Fire Side Room at Civic 
Auditorium on Friday, Nov. 14, 2003 at 2:00 PM. 
     Memorials may be made to Hospice of The Gorge, 751 Myrtle Street, The 
Dalles, OR 97058.
