He was born June 30, 1920 in Fort Lyon, Colo., the second of three children to James Madison and Nora Bessie (Pogue) Brown. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and married Margaret Catherine Rolfes on Jan. 15, 1944 in Baltimore, Md. He retired as a supervisor electrician for carrier jets from the North Island Air Station and had lived in Point Lona, Calif., for 37 years prior to moving to The Dalles in 2002 after the death of his wife. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in San Diego and a longtime member of the Elks Lodge. He enjoyed golfing, dancing and working on projects in his garage. He is survived by his son, Paul Brown, Las Vegas; daughter, Carolyn Markley, San Diego; niece, Delores French and great-niece, Cindy Yeoman, The Dalles. Private family memorial services will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Smith Callaway Chapel in care of arrangements.
