The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 24, 1995
     O. Mae Buck, 94, The Dalles and formerly of Wasco, died at her home Nov. 
17, 1995.
     She was born March 22, 1901 in Vincennes, Ind., the third child and only 
daughter of John Riley and Odelia Nancy (Halter) Miller.  She grew up in the 
Vincennes area and married G. Lawrence Buck on May 2, 1918, in Indiana.
     They moved to Oregon in October 1939 and settled in Sherman County in 
1941.
     Mae worked in Wasco for many years.  She was a longtime member of Wasco 
United Methodist Church; she also loved working in her flower garden and 
nurturing her grandchildren.
    She is survived by her sons and their wives, John E. and Joanne Buck, 
Moro; Gordon L. and Donna Buck, Caldwell, Idaho; Vera M. and Ray Van Gilder of 
Wasco; Barbara L. and Leo Roberts of Tigard; 20 grandchildren, numerous great-
grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, in December 1959, and 
her son, George.
     Services were at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home on Nov. 21.
     Memorials:  Wasco United Methodist Church or a charity of choice, in care 
of Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home, 1100 Kelly Avenue, The Dalles.
