She was born in McMinnville (Oregon) on July 10, 1954, and spent her childhood in Merna, Nebraska. She married Jim Bull on August 2, 1975 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She and Jim lived in Portland for six years, where their two children, Jeff and Jamie, were born. The family moved to Italy in 1983, where they served as church planters with Conservative Baptist International until 1988. They returned to the U.S., settled in The Dalles, and served as pastor and wife of Calvary Baptist Church for 12 years. While there, Barbara worked in nursing administration at Mid-Columbia Medical Center. In April 2000, she and Jim moved to Salem (Oregon) as pastor and wife at First Baptist. In May 2002, she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology Family Studies, from Western Baptist College. Her family members include her husband Jim, son Jeff, daughter Jamie, father and mother Paul and Emily Jacobsen, brother Ron Jacobsen, sister Leann Custer, brother John Jacobsen, and sister Lori Utemark. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 11, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist in Salem. Another memorial service will be held in Broken Bow, Nebraska Saturday, December 14. Interment will be in Merna, Nebraska. Contributions may be made to a memorial fund in care of Salem First Baptist in Salem. The Dalles Chronicle December 9, 2002.
