The Dalles Weekly Reminder, August 4, 1995
Sarah “Sally” Milne Bullock, 82, died July 27, 1995, in Escondido, Calif., 
where she moved earlier this year to be near her daughter.

She was born in The Dalles on July 2, 1913, to Ina Sarah and Alexander Scott 
Milne, Sr., graduating from The Dalles High School and from The Dalles 
Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse on August 30, 1934.

In 1935, Sally was selected as one of the early United Airline stewardesses 
(eligibility included being a registered nurse).  She lived in Portland for 
many years, actively practicing as a registered nurse in many offices and 
institutions, notably the Beaverton Medical Clinic, and as a volunteer for the 
American Red Cross.

Her memberships included the Rainbow Girls, Order of the Eastern Star, and the 
Oregon Association of Nurses.  She was an excellent athlete and an avid 
spectator, serving also as president of the Women’s Association at Riverside 
Golf Club.

Mrs. Bullock is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and James 
Roberts; her brother, Edwin E. Milne, Medford; her sister, Elizabeth Milne, 
Beaverton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  
She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Bullock, who died in 1988; 
her parents, and elder brother A. Scott Milne II; and her third niece, Jane 
Milne.

Services were August 1 at Smith Callaway Chapel, followed by vault interment 
at the IOOF Cemetery, The Dalles.
