Burlingame,84, died at a local nursing home Jan. 8. He lived in The Dalles for the past eight years. He was born Nov. 20, 1900 in Myers Falls, Wash., and grew up near Vancouver where his parents operated a dairy farm. In 1921 he moved to Mikkalo in Gilliam County and was a wheat farmer until he retired in 1976 and moved to The Dalles. Mr. Burlingame served in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a 62-year member of the Condon Masonic Lodge and was also active in the Pendleton Shriners Lodge. He served for many years as a director of the Gilliam County Soil Conservation District and the Condon Grain Growers. Survivors include his wife, Crystal Burlingame, The Dalles; a son, Gary Burlingame, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Joyce) Boon, Bend, and Mrs. Eric (Carol) Gosson, The Dalles. Graveside services were at the Arlington Cemetery, Friday with the Rev. James Wilson officiating. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to The Dalles Salvation Army Citadel or to other charities.
