Wakley iwakley@msn.com December 10, 2006, 1:38 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 22, 1984 Howard C. Crawford, 72, died Nov. 16 in a Portland hospital. He was a lifetime resident of Wamic. He was born Jan. 12, 1912 in Wamic. Mr. Crawford worked for 12 years with the state game commission and had been a wheat and cattle rancher for 23 years. He was a member of the Barlow Gate Grange and the Barlow Gate and Tywama Saddle Clubs. Survivors include his wife, Bonita, Wamic; two sons, Marvin, Tygh Valley and Vern, Tigard; a daughter Bonnie, Beaverton; two grandsons, Glen in the U.S. Marine Corps; and Paul, in the U.S. Army; and two granddaughters, Becky and Traci, both of Hillsboro. Funeral services were Wednesday at the Barlow Gate Grange Hall, with the Rev. Dan Elam officiating. Burial was in the Lone Pine Cemetery in Wamic. Memorials may be made to Leukemia Association of Oregon, 718 W. Burnside, Portland, or the Wamic Community Church. Smith Callaway Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
