The Dalles Chronicle, December 13, 2005
     Craig Alan Crichton, 59, a resident of The Dalles for 32 years, died in a 
Portland hospital on Dec. 8, 2005 from complications arising from acute 
myelogenous leukemia. 
     He was born in Portland and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He 
earned his ham radio license while in high school, then went on to graduate 
with an electrical engineeering degree from Oregon State University. While in 
college, he met and married his wife, Mary.
     After college, he spent three years in the US Army stationed in Hawaii, 
where he worked in the communications field.
     He was employed by Bonneville Power Administration until the time of his 
death, working first in Portland and then in The Dalles. He had planned to 
retire in June. 
     He volunteered his time and ham radio skills on both Cycle Oregon and 
Reach the Beach bicycle rides. 
     Survivors include his wife, Mary, of 37 years; his son, John, Portland; 
daughter-in-law, Karen; grandchildren Qwilleran and Penelope; sisters Joan, 
Portland; and Janet, Juneau, Alaska; and his parents, Whitcomb and Virginia of 
Portland.
     He was preceded in death by his brother, David, and his nephew, Andrew.
     A memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 7600 N. 
Hereford, Portland, at 10 a.m. on Dec. 17 with the Rt. Rev. Rusty Kimsey 
officiating. There will be a gathering at the church after the service.
Memorials may be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, 32901 SE Kelso Rd., Boring, 
OR 97009.
