     Daniel “Dan” Richard Dorn, 87, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home 
Monday, Aug. 23, 2004.
     He was born Dec. 3, 1916 in Astoria, N.Y., the older of three sons to 
Gustave and Mary (Coogan) Dorn. He was raised in and graduated from high 
school in Huntington, N.Y. After high school, he attended two years of college 
at Farmingdale Agriculture School in Farmingdale, N.Y.
     He worked heavy construction in the Long Island, N.Y. area and moved to 
The Dalles in 1992 to be near family. 
     He was a member of First Christian Church, the Gideons and had been 
involved with the Prison Ministry in New York. He enjoyed his family, 
agriculture and horticulture.
     He is survived by his wife, Olive Pauline Dorn, The Dalles, whom he 
married Dec. 18, 1976 in Kings Park, N.Y.; two sons, Kenneth and his wife, 
Darlene Dorn, Orlando, Fla.; Daniel Dorn, Huntington; grandchildren, Tracey 
Dorn, Orlando; Daniel Jr. and his wife, Katy Dorn, New York; Chris and Missey 
Dorn, Huntington; Mike and his wife, Renee Dorn, Kentucky; Lara Dorn, 
Huntington; great-grandchildren, Karissa and Courtney Dorn, Huntington; step-
daughter, Elise and her husband, Ben Bailey; step-granddaughter, Kendra and 
her husband, Kenneth Thomas and their children, Isaiah, Olivia, Elijah Thomas, 
all of The Dalles; and his brother, Bob Dorn, Dix Hills, N.Y. 
     Graveside services will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Three Mile 
Road, formerly Parklawn Cemetery, at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 26, with Rev. 
Mike Wilson officiating. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in care of 
arrangements.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace House, c/o First 
Christian Church, 909 Court Street, The Dalles, OR 97058.
