Wakley iwakley@msn.com June 1, 2006, 4:01 pm The Dalles Chronicle, April 7, 2006 Ronald Claud Eakin, 59, son of Mary Eakin and the late Elton Eakin, died in Hermiston on Wednesday, Jan. 13, after a bout with lung cancer. He was born Jan. 22, 1947 in The Dalles, the third of five children to Elton and Mary (Coats) Eakin. He attended Grass Valley Grade School then graduated from Sherman County High School in 1965, then went on to college where he graduated from Central Washington in Ellensburg. He worked for the highway department in both Washington and Oregon states. He drove trucks for Jack Gray for five years, and worked for farmers doing all jobs. He loved horses and other animals, enjoyed western music, the Baptist Church and his pipe. He is survived by two sons; Randy, Seattle, and Ryan, Sedro-Woolley, Wash.; his mother Mary, The Dalles; his sister Helen Eakin, Spokane, Wash.; his sister-in-law, Martha Flatt, Wasco; his three grandchildren, Tyson, Chris and Rochelle Eakin; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Frances, and two brothers, John and Leonard. Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 12 p.m. at Moro Community Presbyterian Church.
