The Dalles Weekly Reminder, January 16, 1987
Otto John Eckert, 79, a former Wasco County resident, died Jan. 4 in Oregon 
City. 

Mr. Eckert was born Sept. 28, 1907, in Trout Lake, Wash., and lived in Oregon 
since he was four years old.  He spent 21 years farming in Wasco County, owned 
a Grade A dairy and also raised beef cattle.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Oregon City, who he married Sept. 8, 1934, 
in Portland; four children, Eleanor Eckert of West Linn, John Eckert of 
Beavercreek, Merle Eckert of Dufur and Lloyd Eckert of Dufur; a brother, 
Howard Eckert of Clackamas; a sister, Ida Walker of Portland; eight 
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Private family burial was at Riverview Cemetery with the Rev. Asa Jensen 
officiating.  Contributions in his memory may be made to the Oregon Lung 
Association.  The Chapel of Holman, Hankins, Bowker and Waud, Inc., of Oregon 
City, was in charge of arrangements.
