She was born May 25, 1910, in Kooskia, Idaho, the older of two children to John L. and Carrie Florence (Davis) Stayton. She was raised in Kooskia. She lived most of her life in Washington and Oregon, working in the restaurant business in Toppenish, Wash. and Grass Valley, from the 50's to the 70's, and in The Dalles, she operated the Westgate Bowling Café in the early- 70's. She was a member of Rebekah Lodges in Toppenish and Grass Valley and enjoyed her family, reading, country western music, traveling to Reno, gardening and the restaurant businesses. Peggy is survived by four children, Betty Jean and her husband, Glen Paege, Yuma, Ariz.; Beva and her husband, Jay Anderson, Sun City, Ariz.,; Dawn and her husband, Bruno Galliano, Vancouver, Wash.; and Carolyn and her husband, Kent Gooding, Sherwood; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Melvin House in 1972 and her husband, Woodrow "Curly" Eichler. Graveside memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road with Sue Laizure officiating. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Win-quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
