The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 6, 1983
     Memorial services for former Wasco County Judge Col. Hugh B. Elder are 
scheduled Monday 1:30 p.m. in the Wasco County Circuit Courtroom.
     Mr. Elder, 82, who was also project engineer during construction of The 
Dalles and John Day Dams died Sept. 26 in Denver Colo.
     Masonic Rites were in Batesville, Ind., followed by burial in Greendale, 
Ind.  Smith Callaway Chapel is in charge of local memorial services.
     Survivors include his wife, Daisy, The Dalles; two daughters, Wendy Sue 
Ott, Hood River, and Dixie Lynn Eckford, Portland, and sons-in-law, Stephen 
Ott, Hood River, and Patrick Eckford, Portland.
     Mr. Elder was a member of the Batesville Masonic Lodge, Mid-Columbia 
Shriners Club, Al Kadar Temple in Portland, The Dalles Downtown Kiwanis and 
The Dalles Elks.
     Contributions are suggested to the "Fund in Trust for:  Billy Methvin in 
care of U.S. National Bank, Heights Branch, 1309 12th Street, Hood River."
