The Dalles Chronicle, February 15, 2005
     Claire Lucille Firkins Ellison, 92, a former resident of The Dalles, died 
in Vancouver, Wash., on Feb. 9, 2005.
     She was born Sept. 30, 1912, in Taylor County, Iowa.
     She and her husband had a dairy farm in the Mt. Angel area for many 
years. Her husband died in 1967. She then moved to The Dalles and for the last 
four years had been living in Vancouver.
     She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mt. Angel. She enjoyed 
crocheting and quilting, making and donating more than 300 quilts.
     Survivors include four sons: Darwin Ellison, The Dalles; Donald Ellison, 
San Francisco; Deane Ellison, Battleground, Wash.; and L. D. Ellison, Eugene; 
two daughters, Ardeth Parker, Eureka, Calif.; and Gayle Wilson, Oceanside, 
Calif.; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-
grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll, and a grandchild, Jeffrey.
     Services have been held and interment was in Valley View Cemetery in 
Silverton. Unger Funeral Chapel of Silverton and Mt. Angel was in care of 
arrangements.
