The Dalles Weekly Reminder, February 23, 1984
     Eugene A. Elton, 90, a long-time resident of The Dalles, died Feb. 15 at 
Mid-Columbia Medical Center.

     He was born Feb. 22, 1893, in Bridgewater, S.D.

     Mr. Elton has been employed in the county clerk's office.

     He was a veteran of World War I in the Marine Corps, a life member of the 
Elks Lodge, a past commander of the local American Legion post, and a member 
of Wasco Lodge 15 AF&AM.

    Survivors are his nieces, Mrs. E. L. Gowdy, Tigard; Elizabeth Beuhler, 
Beaverton, and Mrs. F. J. Scheffler, Aurora, Colo.; his nephews, Judge Joseph 
Wilson, Novheo, Calif.; James Elton, California, and William E. Taylor, 
California.

     Funeral services were Friday at the IOOF Memorial Mausoleum with Pastor 
Ronald Coleman officiating.  The Elks service was conducted by lodge members.  
Smith Callaway Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
