The Dalles Weekly Reminder, May 10, 1984
	Verna L. Emerson, died at home in The Dalles Thursday, May 3.  She was 
79.

	Mrs. Emerson was born Nov. 13, 1904 in Athena.  She was the daughter 
of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis G. Pickell.  She was a graduate of The Dalles High 
School, and a member of the First Congregational Church.

	She was married to Leslie E. Emerson, Dec. 15, 1934 in The Dalles.  He 
died Jan. 20, 1981.

	Mrs. Emerson is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Pool, 
Bend; and Mrs. Ed (Judy) Vest, Portland; five grandchildren, one great-
grandchild.

	Graveside services were Monday, May 7 at the Odd Fellows Cemetery at 
11 a.m.  Rev. Karl Vercourteren officiated.  Smith Callaway Chapel was in 
charge of services.
