     Vera Elizabeth Endersby, 84, a native and lifelong resident of The Dalles 
died Saturday, July 24, 2004 at a local care facility.
     She was born Nov. 4, 1919, in The Dalles to Stefano and Emilia 
(Guarnieri) Pizzolato and grew up here. Following her graduation from high 
school she attended Oregon College of Education in Monmouth, where she 
received teaching credentials. 
     She returned to Wasco County and taught at the Victor School near 
Wapinitia. In 1950 she came to the Chenowith School District and remained as 
an elementary school teacher for 32 years before retiring. She married Ken 
Endersby in Goldendale on Oct. 7, 1941; he preceded her in death in 1983. In 
1998 she married Jim Block in The Dalles; he died in 2002.
     She was a member of Saint Peter’s Catholic Church, and a member of the 
Oregon Retired Educators Association. She enjoyed playing cards, vacationing 
in Reno, Tahoe, and Jackson Hole, Wyo. In later years she enjoyed volunteering 
at the Mid-Columbia Senior Center.
     Survivors include her children and their families; son Tom Endersby and 
his wife Carol, Junction City; daughter Karen Lepinski and her husband Tom, 
The Dalles; and her brother Jim Pizzolato, The Dalles. Also surviving are four 
grandchildren and their families; Darlene Starr and her husband Dennis, Spray; 
Scott Lepinski and his wife Diane, Dufur, Lori Slaughter and her husband Bob, 
Oregon City; and Todd Endersby and his wife Claire, San Antonio, Texas; nine 
great-grandchildren, Andy, Ryan, Aaron and Jason Starr; Ken, Kory and Cassidy 
Lepinski; Ame Slaughter and Will Endersby. She was preceded in death by a son, 
Ron in 1999.
     Graveside services in celebration of her life will be held at St. Peter 
Cemetery on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. with the Reverend Todd Unger 
presiding. A luncheon will follow the services. Memorial contributions may be 
made to Hospice of The Gorge, 719 Myrtle Street, The Dalles, OR 97058. 
Arrangements are by Columbia Cremation & Burial.
