Wakley iwakley@msn.com and July 27, 2006, 6:33 pm The Dalles Weekly Reminder, October 11, 1984 Roy Erwin, 78, died Oct. 8 at the Portland Veterans Hospital. He was a former resident of The Dalles. He was born in Exeter, Mo. on Sept. 22, 1906. He moved to The Dalles while very young and lived in the Rowena area. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and later was a crane operator at the J.H. Baxter tie plant. He and his wife operated the Hoot Owl Cafe in The Dalles. He had lived in The Dalles until earlier this year. He is survived by a son, Leonard, Portland; a daughter, Norma Addleman, Salem; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Gable Funeral Home, 225 N.E. 80th St., Portland. Burial will follow at the Willamette National Cemetery.
