Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 17, 2006, 12:23 am The Dalles Chronicle, December 30, 2005 Carl Gustave Floten Jr., 90, a former resident of The Dalles, died in Vancouver on Dec. 25, 2005. He was born Feb. 21, 1915. He was an agronomist who taught at Pine Valley High School and The Dalles after receiving his bachelors in Agriculture. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed playing bridge and riding horses. He worked as a vice president for Inland Navigation and established the first grain shipments down the Columbia River. He also worked as a Futures Broker for Geldermann and Company, Inc. He is survived by his daughter, Carole E. Weidner, Washougal, Wash.; a brother, Wilham Floten, Seattle; a nephew, Dr. Harkness Storm Floten, Md.; and two grandchildren, Robin Page and Clinton Page; and two great-grandchildren Bryson Page and Rachel Page. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Florence Floten in 1998. There will be no public service. Memorials may be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice House, P.O. Box 1600, Vancouver, WA 98668.
