She was born July 17, 1912, in Sutherland, Neb., to Lorenzo and Gertrude (Brown) Harshfield. She graduated from high school in Emmett, Idaho and from the Alphonsus Nursing School in Boise. She worked as a registered nurse for 30 years and retired in The Dalles in 1973. Mrs. Folkman was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Baker. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Elvin Daggett, The Dalles; a son and daughter-in-law, Vaughn and Judy Folkman, Baker; a brother and sister-in-law, Hally and Maxine Harshfield, Emmett; seven grandchildren, including Mrs. Kevin (Vonna) Kramer, and Devin Daggett, both of The Dalles; Tobin and Shawn Daggett and Mrs. John (Heidi) Crane, in the Portland area; Christopher and Amy Folkman, Baker; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives in the mid-west. Her husband, Harold, died in 1967 in LaGrande. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Juanita, and a brother, Harry, who died in infancy. Memorial services were Thursday, Feb. 18, at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home with the Rev. James Hazlett officiating. Private burial was at the Island City Cemetery near LaGrande Fri., Feb. 19.
