Wakley iwakley@msn.com June 1, 2006, 12:17 am The Dalles Weekly Reminder, June 26, 1987 Robert Edwin Ford, 74, died June 11 while on a tour in England. He was a resident of The Dalles since 1918. Mr. Ford was born in Centralia, Wash., on Aug. 14, 1912. He worked as a brakeman for Union Pacific Railroad for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Union Pacific Old Timers and a veteran of World War II. His wife, Hope Ford, preceded him in death in 1983. He is survived by three sons, Jerry Stanley Ford of Pendleton, Robert William Ford of The Dalles, and Stephen Allen Ford of San Diego; a daughter, Jo Lynne Latimer of San Antonio; six grandchildren; three sisters, Kathleen Engbertson of Seattle, Elizabeth Ann Thomas of The Dalles and Jane Mather of Vallejo, Calif. Graveside funeral services were held at Parklawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Hope Ford Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Mid-Columbia Health Foundation. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
