She was born July 7, 1916, in Riverton, Neb., the fifth of eight children to Pete and Mary Katherine (Goebel) Iverson. In 1937, she, along with her sister Hattie and brother Don, drove to Oregon to join brothers that were working in the Tygh Valley area. She worked on Tygh Ridge and at the hotel in Maupin. She married Orville R. Fraley on Oct. 18, 1939 in The Dalles. They owned and operated the Maupin Garage until 1957. During her career years, she was the Maupin City Recorder, the rural mail carrier for the Criterion-Shaniko- Bakeoven route, a substitute postal clerk, and spent 18 years as the school district clerk for Southern Wasco County School District. Following her retirement in 1978 from the school district, she lived in Tillamook, Corvallis, Redmond and St. Helens. She enjoyed raising flowers, wild birds, numerous hand crafts and needle arts, time with friends and playing cards. Teasing and finding a good argument were among her pleasures. She is survived by her daughters, Virginia and her husband, Bill Wagenblast, St. Helens; Marlene and her husband, Dale Pedersen, Powell Butte; grandchildren, Greg and his wife, Gail Wagenblast, Springfield; Lisa and her husband, Steve Galovich, St. Helens; Ray Pedersen and his fiancé, Stacey Olsen, Bend; Kristy Pedersen and her fiancé, Tom Carey, Bend; two great- grandchildren, Victoria Wagenblast and Andrew Wagenblast. She was excitedly awaiting her third great-grandchild, due in July. She is also survived by her sister, Hattie Root, The Dalles; two brothers, Merlyn and his wife, Marge Iverson, and Bernard and his wife, Lillian Iverson, all of Wamic; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, with Pastor Larry Moynihan officiating. Interment will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road. Memorial contributions may be made to The Child Abuse Assessment Center for Columbia County, PO Box 1001, St. Helens, OR 97051.
