Myrtle Livona Francis Obituary Surnames: Francis, Whitman, Tucker, Haney, Kendall, Deardorff, Jay, Cramer. Myrtle Livona Tucker Francis, 92, a resident of The Dalles, formerly of Kennewick, Washington, died at her residence on Monday, January 20, 2003. She was born May 22, 1910, in Loyalton, South Dakota, where her parents homesteaded, the second of four children to Jacob and Carrie Olive (Whitman) Tucker. Those were drought years and the Tucker family moved to Indiana, her father's birthplace, but South Dakota drew them back again in 1914. She graduated from Newell, South Dakota High School in 1927 and received her teaching certificate in 1928 from Teachers Normal in Spearfish, South Dakota. She taught in rural schools for five years in South Dakota. She married Arthur M. Francis on July 3, 1933, at Rapid City, South Dakota, where they made their home until 1946, when they moved to Spokane (Washington). In 1950, they moved to Richland, Washington where she was employed by General Electric processing payroll and insurance claims until her retirement from Douglas United Nuclear in 1969. In 1955, she and Art moved to their new home in Kennewick and were a daily two-some at the Columbia Center Mall. Myrtle and Art shared 64 years of marriage until his death in 1997. She moved to The Dalles in January of 2001 to be near her daughter. Survivors include her daughter June Haney and her husband, Marvin, The Dalles; granddaughters and their husbands, Rhonda and Blake Kendall, Vacaville, California and Gail and Gary Deardorff, Kennewick; great grandchildren Janelle and Daniel Kendal and Morgan Deardorff, her sister, Virginia Jay, Casper, Wyoming and very special sister-in-law, Phyllis Tucker, Richland, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, a brother, Elmerton Tucker and a sister, Rena Cramer. Family services will be held at Mueller's in Kennewick.
