The Dalles Weekly Reminder, November 24, 1983
     Willis Ray Frantz, 61, a lifetime resident of The Dalles area, died of 
cancer Saturday evening at his home.
     He was born June 16, 1922 in The Dalles.
     Mr. Frantz served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II.  He 
returned home and was a cement worker until he retired in August 1981 for 
health reasons.
     He was a member of the Dufur Christian Church, The Dalles Eagles Lodge 
No. 2126; and Laborers Union Local No. 320.  He was a volunteeer fireman for 
the city of Dufur and served as volunteer fire chief from 1970 to 1977.
     Survivors include his wife, Salina, The Dalles; two sons, George Edward 
Frantz and Douglas Ray Frantz, both of The Dalles; a daughter, Patricia Ann 
Frantz, Dufur; a stepson, Richard Earl Fisher, Portland; a granddaughter, 
Heather Frantz, The Dalles; three brothers, George A., Spokane, William A. and 
John I., both of The Dalles; two sisters, Bertha Hudson, The Dalles; and Ethel 
Worsham, Twin Falls, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.
     Funeral services are Friday, 3 p.m. at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral 
Home with Pastor Asa Jenson officiating.  Burial will be at Parklawn Cemetery.
     Active casketbearers will be Norman Wood, Jack Baumgartner, Vern Kelly, 
Peter Van Valkenburg, and Howard and Henry Steers.  Honorary casketbearers are 
Virgil Sharp, Cliff Duffy, Ray Means, Homer Baker, Morris Smith and Jack 
Kendall.
