He was born on Jan. 23, 1915, in Duval, Saskatchewan. During WWII, he served overseas as lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He attended school at the University of Saskatchewan earning his bachelor's degree in agriculture. The Frizzell family later moved to Wisconsin where he attended the University of Wisconsin, earning his Master's degree in agriculture and later his Ph.D. in extension administration. The family moved to The Dalles in 1955 where he worked for 10 years as a Wasco County Agricultural Extension Agent, employed by Oregon State University. He also worked overseas teaching in Turkey for one year and in Libya for two years. He married Jean Miller on March 22, 1974. After he retired from Oregon State, John and Jean moved to The Dalles but John remained retired for only about three months before jumping into a new career, real estate. He sold real estate, both for Century 21 and in his own company, for many years around The Dalles until his failing eyesight forced him to retire for good when he was 80. He and Jean moved back to Saskatchewan in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Jean; his daughter, Wendy and her husband, John Willingham Austin, Tex.; his son, Barry Frizzell, The Dalles; his grandson, Barry Murray and his wife, Maribeth; his great-granddaughter, Madelyn, Olympia, Wash.; his sister-in-law, Margaret Frizzell, Strasbourgh, Saskatchewan; brother-in-law, Geoff Blake, Strasbourgh; step-son, David and his wife, Connie Sampson and family; step-son, Guy and his wife, Colleen Sampson and family; step-daughter, Julie and her husband, Ernie Brock and family; numerous nieces and nephews, all of Canada, and his first wife, Beatrice Antes, The Dalles. His cremated remains were recently scattered in the Columbia River at his request. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Commission for the Blind, Saskatchewan Office, 2550 Broad Street, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, S4P 3Z4.
