Mrs. Fulton was a pioneer of Oregon, and was well known throughout the state. She was born in Shelbyville, Ky., in 1816 and some years later moved to Missouri, where in 1840, she was married to Colonel James Fulton, with whom she crossed the plains in 1847. The family settled in Yamhill county, near the town of LaFayette, taking advantage of the donation land claim law. Colonel Fulton was prominently identified with the early history of the Willamette Valley, and was well known throughout the state. In 1857 the family moved to Wasco county, where Colonel Fulton died in 1896. Mrs. Fulton is survived by seven children: Mrs. H.V. Isaacs, of Walla Walla; Mrs. L. Scholl, of Walla Walla; James and Frank, of Wasco county; John and David Fulton, of Sherman county, and Miss Annie Fulton, of this city. Mrs. Fulton joined the Christian church more than 40 years ago, and was a woman of exceptionally strong character.
