Wakley iwakley@msn.com April 17, 2006, 1:26 am The Dalles Chronicle, January 8, 2006 Darold LeRoy Hargrove, 70, a resident of The Dalles, died at his home on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006. He was born April 3, 1935, in Waldport, the eighth of ten children to Henry Raymond Hargrove and Clementine Hattie Smith. He was raised in Yachats. A logger, he married Carolyn Louise Strode on July 3, 1982, in Reno. They resided in Toledo, Wash., then moved to Eugene, then moved to The Dalles. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching old movies. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of The Dalles; his daughters Teresa Shotts of Kenowick, Wash.; Rita Ulver of Portland; Candace Dawn and her husband Jack Reeves of Lyle; Sara and her husband Richard Harris of The Dalles; Sandra Darlene and her husband Arthur Niemela of White Salmon; grandchildren Christopher Shotts of Kennewick; Athena Shotts of Kennewick; Cory Reeves of Lyle; Alexandria Reeves of Lyle; Vanessa Harris of The Dalles; Jacqueline Harris of The Dalles; Cameron Harris of The Dalles; his sisters Thelma Hargrove of Firebaugh, Calif.; Helen and her husband Bill Powers of Lynchburg, Va.; brothers Carl and his wife Betty Hargrove of Springfield, Ore.; Harold and his wife Helen of Keno, Ore.; Leland and his wife Sharon of Fairbanks, Alaska; and Keith and his wife Joann Hargrove of Elmira. He was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and his daughter, Verna Ulver. Viewing will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Monday, Jan. 9 at 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m., with services following at 2 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1815 E 15th Street, The Dalles. Private cremation will be held at Win-Quatt Crematory with Spencer, Libby, and Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorial funds may be made to Hospice of The Gorge, P.O.
