     Dorothy “Dot” May Helmer, 75, a resident of Moses Lake, Wash., died at 
her home on Saturday, April 2, 2005.
     She was born March 24, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the third of five 
children to George and Ruth (Gillespie) Williams. 
     She married Paul Correll in July 1950. They had two daughters, Linda May 
and Judy Jane. Her husband died in 1958.
     She married Walt Helmer in 1966. They had one son, Ron Helmer. She worked 
at Service Laundry and the Columbia Basin Nursing Home in The Dalles. She and 
her husband moved to Moses Lake in 1984 where she worked at Lakeridge Nursing 
Home for 13 years as housekeeping supervisor.
     She loved her grandchildren, working in the garden, fishing and time 
spent with her family. 
     She is survived by her husband, Walt Helmer, Moses Lake; her daughter, 
Linda and her husband, Lee Bertschi, Lyle; her son, Ron and his wife, Kathy 
Helmer, Kansas City, Mo.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; ten nieces 
and nephews; her sister, Mary Nelson, The Dalles; two brothers, Ben Williams, 
Pensacola, Fla.; and Tom and Marty Williams, Seattle, Wash. 
     She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Gillespie; her father, 
George Williams; her sister, Elizabeth; her first husband, Paul Correll and 
her daughter, Judy Correll.
     Funeral services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home 
at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 8, with Pastor Ken Post officiating. Interment 
will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery on Cherry Heights Road. Spencer, Libby and 
Powell Funeral Home in The Dalles is in care of arrangements.
