The Dalles Weekly Reminder, February 20, 1987
     Andrew B. House, 80, died Feb. 14 in The Dalles.  He had lived here for 
15 years.
     Mr. House was born Feb. 27, 1906, in Electra, Calif., and was a member of 
St. Peter Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.  He was a professional 
baseball player, having played for the Pittsburg Pirates in 1927 and then in 
the Pacific Coast League for several years.  In college, he was inducted into 
the St. Mary's College Hall of Fame for Athletic Achievement, after losing 
only one game in four years.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona, in 1972.
     He is survived by four daughters, Beverly Bertram of The Dalles, Arlene 
Gifford of The Dalles, Helen Bold of Turlock, Calif., and Judy Miles of 
Sacramento, Calif.; six grandsons; four granddaughters; one great-grandchild.
     Recitation of the Rosary was held at Smith Callaway Chapel, and Mass of 
Christian Burial will be Friday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic 
Church, officiated by the Rev. Henry Albrecht.  Donations in his memory may be 
made to The Dalles Little League in care of Smith Callaway Chapel.
